Mindful Practice and Communication: Enhancing Quality of Care, Quality of Caring, and Resilience

Location: Solviken (Coastal Hostel),  Åsa Sweden (50 kilometers south of Gothenburg)

Participants: 20 Swedish Gyneacologist/Obstetricians, midwives and psychologist (through SFOG) and 15 European/International Colleagues.

Program: Previously offered in the US through The University of Rochester School for Medicine & Dentistry, now West Coast Sweden. This course event is designed to target the needs of northern european and International obstetricians and gynaecologists, midwives and psychologists. Admitting 35 participants. 20 spaces reserved for SFOG doctors and midwives (doctor/midwife  doctor/psychologist teams are prioritised in admittance), and 15 spaces for other Northern European /International colleagues. 

Offering an experiential learning environment, with a focus on developing the capacity for self-awareness in stressful and demanding situations; Using mindful meditation forms, narrative medicine and appreciative inquiry. Session themes include communication with patients/families, responding to suffering, difficult decisions, errors, professionalism, medical education, compassion, self-care, resilience and burnout. Mindful practice Outcomes

In this special course, geared towards women's healthcare providers, even an introduction to Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting  and an opportunity to become part of a supportive international/european network for women's healthcare providers interested in mindfulness, compassion, resilience and patient safety.

No prior experience is required; however, experience with meditation or other contemplative practices is desirable.

Intention : A retreat-like workshop to improve the quality of care women's healthcare clinicians provide while improving their own resilience and well-being. A forum for increased international and nationwide collegial support and community in these demanding times. Even deepened awareness for mindfulness based interventions and an opportunity to take this course with the original author. Dr Krasner will make a copy of the curriculum available upon request.

Price: 9,800 SEK  for instruction and material +, additional cost for accommodations with vegitarian meals approximately 2000-2500 SEK,  Total cost approximately 1,270 Euros or 1,400 US dollars
